The Eltham Society

Research is undertaken into Eltham’s history and development for presentation in publications or at exhibitions.  Local residents are encouraged to contribute their reminiscences.

Since its foundation, the Society has:

• Built up archives of material on Eltham, including written records, photographs and artefacts.
• Published books and other material on Eltham’s history, amenities, buildings and prominent residents.
• Kept a watching brief on changes to Eltham and commented on planning applications and transport changes.
• Undertaken special activities in Eltham including archaeology, tree planting and the erection of the Eltham Town Sign.

The archives of The Eltham Society have been donated to the Royal Greenwich Heritage Trust, who will integrate into the borough archives. They have a long-term plan to put the index online.
